Angela Golden-McCord

The only difference between where you are and where you want to be is the steps you haven't taken yet.

Angela served four years in the US Navy as a Quartermaster (navigation work). After a successful enlistment, she leveraged her GI Bill to earn a degree in Communications at CSU Long Beach. Angela first became acquainted with recruiting during her internship at Enterprise Rent-A-Car where she was primarily focused on HR, recruiting, onboarding, benefits, labor laws, payroll, and performance management. By the time she left Enterprise, she was responsible for all recruiting, hiring, and onboarding for National, Alamo, and Enterprise car rental employees at the LAX airport.

At Riot Games, she joined as a Recruiting Coordinator and was quickly promoted to a full-cycle recruiter focused on software engineering related to operations, infrastructure, information security, and the Riot platform. Angela helped build out the InfoSec team, hiring various engineers and Riot’s first Head of Security. As she found her stride in tech recruiting, she focused on building out Riot’s peer-to-peer network, called “Riot Direct,” where she hired leaders in the Network Engineering, Peering, and Product development spaces. These high impact hires set the groundwork for her career at Riot.

Angela was promoted to Senior Manager of Recruiting, with overall responsibility for the recruiting teams supporting VALORANT, Legends of Runeterra, and all games in R&D phases at Riot (stages included incubation through pre-production). Additionally, her teams supported creative development initiatives such as Riot’s upcoming animated series “Arcane,” IP development, Music, and physical merchandise. During this time, she managed and ensured the recruiting support necessary for launching VALORANT and Legends of Runeterra in 2020. She was responsible for consulting with product owners and stakeholders, helping forecast and provide workforce planning for the coming years. While a part of the Recruiting Leadership team, she helped create and conduct Riot’s Interviewer Training, Recruiting’s Diversity and Inclusion training (working with New Level Recruiting’s COO, Erik Schmidt), and onboarding all new recruiting hires.

Angela cares deeply about building relationships and creating a positive candidate experience, knowing that a perfect marriage between the two is necessary for success.
